Turkey’s basic metals turnover index down 4.3% in June from May

According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistics Institute (TUIK), Turkey's monthly industrial turnover index in June this year increased by 6.4 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and was down 0.8 percent month on month, following the 5.8 percent month-on-month increase recorded in May.

In the second quarter of the year, the industrial turnover index increased 5.5 percent compared to the same quarter of the previous year.

In June, the industrial turnover index for the manufacture of basic metals in Turkey decreased by 0.3 percent year on year and registered a 4.3 percent fall from the previous month, after a rise of 6.3 percent in May compared to April. In June, the industrial turnover index for fabricated metal product manufacturing, except machinery and equipment, increased 5.2 percent year on year and fell by one percent from the previous month, following a 4.8 percent increase in May compared to April.

The turnover of the domestic sales of Turkish basic metals manufacturing decreased by 4.7 percent in June, while foreign sales were down by 3.4 percent, both month on month. In the month in question, a 0.3 percent month-on-month decrease was recorded in the domestic sales turnover in manufacture of fabricated metal products, with foreign sales decreasing by 2.5 percent, compared to the previous month.
