Turkey’s alloy steel flats imports rise 44.5 percent in September

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in September this year Turkey's alloy steel flat product imports rose by 4.7 percent compared to the previous month and were up 44.5 percent compared to the same month last year, totaling 108,780 metric tons. The value of these imports amounted to $106 million, increasing by 1.5 percent as compared to August this year and up 49.8 percent year on year.
 
In September, Japan was Turkey's biggest source of alloy steel flat product imports with 54,434 metric tons, decreasing slightly by 0.5 percent month on month and accounting for 50 percent of Turkey's total alloy steel flat imports. Turkey's second biggest source of alloy steel flats imports in September was France with 19,313 metric tons, decreasing by 12.8 percent compared to August this year.

In the first nine months of this year, Turkey's alloy steel flats imports totaled 725,690 metric tons. Imports from Russia in January-September this year amounted to 217,568 metric tons, while imports from France in the first nine months of the year came to 192,010 mt.
