Turkey raises import duty rates on certain flat steel products

According to Turkey’s Official Gazette, import duties on certain flat steel products have been increased effective as of December 31, 2012.
 
According to the statement, the zero percent import duty rate on flat strip and flat rods containing less than 0.25 percent by weight of carbon (7211.23.30.00.21) will be replaced by a 10 percent import duty rate. The import duty rate for plates of width not exceeding 500 mm (7211.14.00.21.12, 7211.14.00.29.12) has also been determined as 10 percent.
 
The two percent import tax rate on the iron and steel products classified under flat rolled products of stainless steel of thickness of 4.75 mm or more, containing more than 2.5 percent by weight of nickel (7219.12.10.00.11, 7219.13.90.00.19) has been reduced to zero percent.
 
The import tariff rate for flat rolled sheet  products of alloy steel of width of 600 mm or more (7225.30.90.00.00, 7226.99.70.00.00 ) has been determined as six percent.
