Houston, Texas-based steel distributor Triple-S Steel Holdings, Inc. has announced that it has acquired Barranquilla, Colombia-based A. Steckerl Hierros y Aceros, SA.

Triple-S Steel stated that, with this acquisition, the company will have its first steel service center in South America. The company explained that the decision to acquire the Columbian distributor is due to the need to enter into markets that are growing their industrial and infrastructure base.

A. Steckerl has facilities in Barranquilla, Bogota, Cali, Cartagena and Bucaramanga, stocking and processing a wide range of carbon steel in sheet, plate, structural and reinforcing material.  The company also sells stainless steel through its Inoxcenter division.
