Tomini: Romanian scrap lacks competitiveness

Wednesday, 16 June 2010 16:26:36 (GMT+3)   |

SteelOrbis has reached Mr. George Vasistas of Tomini, one of the leading exporters of ferrous scrap from Romania, to ask his opinion concerning the scrap market and the recent comments made by Zouheir Tawill of Metalrom.

Responding to our questions, Mr. Vasistas confirmed his agreement with the comments made by Mr. Tawill, who said that current price levels heard in the market for Black Sea scrap were well below the levels acceptable for Romanian origin scrap shipments. Even though he did not mention any specific price level, Mr. Vasistas added that he also thought Romanian scrap would not be able to compete at the prices heard.
