TISCO to double ferro chrome production capacity

Tata Iron & Steel Co. (TISCO) has announced plans to double the capacity of its Bamnipal ferro chrome plant up to 110'000 tons per year. The plant reportedly has a current capacity to produce 55'000 tons with a 30 MVA furnace and has reportedly placed an order for a new 30 MVA ferro chrome furnace with South African firm Pyromet. Tata steel also plans to build a 60 mw power plant in the facility to meet the power requirement of both furnaces. The expansion project is expected to begin at the end of this year and is expected to take about two years to complete.
