Tianjin-based Chinese steel company Tianjin Metallurgical No. 1 Iron and Steel Group has held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new precision welded pipe project in Wang Wen Zhuang Town Industrial Zone, located in the district of Xiqing, Tianjin, China.
Investment will total RMB 2 billion ($0.3 billion) for the precision welded pipe project, which will be built on a site of 500 acres. The main products will be gas line pipes, oil casings and structural tubes.
The overall project is divided into two phases. In the first phase, capital investment will total RMB 1.05 billion ($0.16 billion). Two production lines will be constructed in the initial phase - a 660 mm diameter ERW pipe production line with an annual output of 350,000 mt and a slitting production line with an output of 200,000 mt per year.
In addition, RMB 0.95 billion ($ 0.14 billion) will later be invested in a second phase, which will see the construction of a spiral welded tube production line with output of 200,000 mt per year, a tube processing production lint with an annual output of 100,000 mt, and an anti-corrosion coating tube production line with an output of 150,000 mt per year.
