The municipality of the northern Chinese coastal city of Tianjin has announced that it aims to keep steel capacity below 20 million mt in 2018 within the scope of its air pollution prevention program. Meanwhile, it plans to implement comprehensive renovation work to achieve ultra-low emissions in the sintering process in the local steel industry. Steelmakers who complete this renovation work by the end of October may be granted more favorable conditions during the implementation of winter season production cuts.
