German-based Thyssenkrupp Steel has announced that it has started construction of an electric strip annealing and insulating line at its Bochum site.

The new energy-efficient line, with an investment of about €150 million, will be capable of producing even thinner electrical steel strips with particularly homogeneous mechanical and magnetic properties. With the new line, the plant will annually produce up to 218,000 mt of non-grain-oriented electrical steel in the future.

The line which be supplied by German plantmaker SMS Group is scheduled for completion by 2024, as SteelOrbis previously reported.
