Global pipe and tube producer Tenaris announced Wednesday that in January, the company began a new phase in its long-term supply agreement with Brazilian multinational energy company Petrobras, which will last until 2017.

Throughout the five years of the agreement, Tenaris will supply Petrobras with large diameter casing pipes with TenarisHydril Wedge Series 500TM premium connections. As Petrobras' needs in the pre-salt become more complex, Tenaris has also included additional products that can increase the efficiency of running operations in these challenging offshore conditions.

According to Roque Ivaldi, Oil and Gas Sales Manager for Tenaris in Brazil, this agreement represents an important step for the company. "The range of high added value products included in this contract will allow us to continue serving Petrobras' needs for a variety of challenging applications," he says.

Tenaris, which was recently recognized by Petrobras as the "Best Goods Supplier" for 2012 in the Campos Basin, within the long-term Global Contracts Category, is currently investing in the construction of a Research and Development Center. The new center's activities include the development of products for the Brazilian Pre-Salt. It will work not only for the OCTG market but also for line pipe and other areas such as automotive, nuclear, mining and structural applications.
