Teck receives strike notice for Elkview Operations, Canada

On January 26, Vancouver, Canada-based steelmaking coal and zinc producer Teck Resources Limited announced that the United Steelworkers, Local 9346 has served strike notice at its Elkview Operations located in southeast British Columbia.

The strike notice entitles the members of the bargaining unit to commence strike action on January 30. Teck remains committed to negotiating a new collective agreement. The previous labor agreement at the mine expired on October 31, 2010.
