Tata Steel UK and Gestamp collaborate to nearly double recycled steel content

Spain-based automotive component producer Gestamp has announced that it has signed an agreement with Tata Steel UK, subsidiary of Indian steel producer Tata Steel, to nearly double the percentage of recycled steel in the components they supply to the automotive sector.

Accordingly, Gestamp will supply high-quality scrap from its production process to Tata Steel UK’s Port Talbot steelworks to be used again in future steelmaking. Tata Steel’s automotive steel grades already include 17 percent recycled content. This new partnership will see the percentage of recycled content associated with the steel provided to Gestamp jump to 30 percent with no impact on quality or strength.
