Tata Steel signs MoU with Nippon Steel

Indian steel maker Tata Steel Ltd. signed a memorandum of understanding with Japanese steel producer Nippon Steel Corporation. Under the terms of the memorandum, Nippon Steel will provide technical assistance for Tata's 6-million metric ton capacity steel plant in Kalinganagar, in the Jajpur district of Orissa. Nippon Steel will help to ensure the selection of the most appropriate facility in planning and layout of the proposed steel plant. This is not the first time that Nippon Steel has assisted Tata. The two companies are collaborating on Tata's 2.4 million metric ton expansion project at a facility in Jamshedpur.
