India-based steelmaker Tata Steel has announced that it has expanded its aerospace operations in China by opening its second steel service center for the aerospace industry in the country.

The new facility in Xi'an aims to serve the growing demand for materials used in the aerospace industry in the region. The first service center was opened in Suzhou in 2009.

Tata Steel stated that more than 30 percent of the shipments from Suzhou are destined for the Xi'an aerospace industry. The demand for aerospace material is primarily driven by the supply chains for the Chinese state-owned aerospace companies COMAC and AVIC.

Tata Steel supplies a wide range of metal solutions used in major commercial and military aerospace projects around the world.
