Tata Steel Europe recommissions upgraded rail facility in France

Tata Steel Europe, subsidiary of Indian steel giant Tata Steel, has announced that it has recommissioned its upgraded rail production facility in northeast France after a €35 million investment.

With the installation of new manufacturing equipment and expansion of the plant in Hayange in the Lorraine region, it can now produce longer rails up to 108 meters for the high-speed networks in France as well as other European railways. Previously, the plant could produce rails up to 80 meters long.

According to the Tata statement, the investment has increased production capacity from 300,000 mt to 340,000 mt per year and has improved yield and quality at the facility.
