Indian steelmaker Tata Steel has announced that it has commissioned the coke oven battery No. 11 at its Jamshedpur facility. With the commissioning of the new coke oven battery, the company will be self-sufficient in coke requirements for the stable operation of its Jamshedpur steel works.
Built at a production capacity of 700,000 mt per year, the coke oven battery No. 11 operates with 88 ovens and is the largest coke oven complex at the Jamshedpur works. The state-of-the-art facility meets all environmental norms and consists of various features providing for care of the plant and human safety.
Tata Steel stated that the commissioning of the coke oven battery No. 11 is the last milestone project in the completion of the 3 million mt per year expansion at its Jamshedpur steel works.
