Tata Metaliks to set up a new BF

Pig iron producer Tata Metaliks has recently invested Rupees 400 million ($8.8 million) to set up a new blast furnace in Kharagpur. The new blast furnace will have a capacity of about 100'000 tons per annum. With the existing mini blast furnace, production capacity of the mill is expected to increase in remarkable amounts. The current annual capacity of the mill is 140'000 tons and it will increase to 263'000 tons after the installation of the new blast furnace. Furthermore, the company is making investment to increase capacity of hot metal from 130'000 tons to 163'000 tons by November 2003.
