On September 6, the municipal government of Tangshan in China's Hebei Province has stated that local steelmakers having implemented production cuts in August cannot resume production without authorization, with 14 steelmakers with a total of 17 blast furnaces which resumed production without authorization being required to stop production. Moreover, districts within Tangshan city whose production cut targets were not met in August will implement further production cuts. At the same time, 80 percent of the 140 sintering machines of steelmakers in Tangshan should complete upgrades by the end of September, while the other 20 percent should complete upgrades by the end of October, otherwise they will have to halt production.
