Chinese steelmaker Tangshan Iron and Steel HRP Co. Ltd has received certification from classification society DNV (Det Norske Veritas) for its shipbuilding plate - as announced on November 4 by major Chinese steel producer Hebei Iron and Steel Group. To date, seven shipbuilding steel plate grades - A, B, D, AH32, DH32, AH36 and DH36 - produced by Tangshan Iron and Steel HRP Co. Ltd have now received certification from a total of nine major classification societies.
Tangshan Iron and Steel HRP Co. Ltd is a joint venture of Tangshan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of Hebei Iron and Steel Group, and Hebei Wenfeng Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. Tangshan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd holds a 51 percent stake in the joint venture company. Tangshan Iron and Steel HRP Co. Ltd, built on a site covering 2,000 acres of land with a total investment of RMB 8.6 billion ($1.29 billion), can produce 3 million mt of hot rolled plate per year, which is used in shipbuilding, boiler manufacturing and in the automotive industry.
