The municipal government of Tangshan in China’s Hebei Province has announced that as of November 16 it has cut steelmaking capacity of 5.0 million mt and iron-making capacity of 2.98 million mt, which was 0.17 million mt more than the original target of 7.81 million mt set by Hebei Provincial government for the whole year of 2018, indicating Tangshan has completed its production cut task for 2018.

Meanwhile, Tangshan will eliminate blast furnaces of lower than 1000 cubic meters, converters of lower than 100 mt and sintering machines of lower than 180 square meters by the end of 2020. And its overall steel capacity will be reduced to 100 million mt by then by reducing steelmaking enterprises to less than or equal to 30 units from current 40 units.
