Taiyuan Steel to increase stainless steel output

Taiyuan Steel Corp, located in China's Shanxi province, is reportedly planning to become one of the world's largest stainless steel producers in 2006. The company will invest a total of Yuan 16.5 billion ($1.98 billion) to expand its stainless steel capacity to 3 million tons by 2006. In 2004, revenue of the company was recorded as Yuan 8.3 billion ($1 billion) with total steel production reaching 4.63 million tons.
