Liu Fuxing, president of Shanxi Province-based Taiyuan Stainless Steel Inc., a subsidiary of Taiyuan Steel Group, has stated that the company will focus on the development of high-end stainless steels, in consideration of the current overcapacity problem in China's stainless steel segment which mainly stems from the surplus production of low-end products.

Since the beginning of 2000, Taiyuan Steel Group has invested a total value of RMB 6 billion in more than 100 projects aimed at saving energy and reducing emissions. With these projects, Taiyuan Steel has managed to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 10 million mt per year.
