Ningbo, China-based expert environmental technology and equipment provider Ningbo Taiji Environmental Protection Equipment Co. Ltd (TAIJI) has announced that its new flue-gas desulfurization (FGD) technology has officially been put into operation and successfully used in 230 m2 sintering.

According to a company statement, for the project prepared for Chinese mill Tangshan Steel, TAIJI chose to use steel slag as an absorbent instead of lime or other absorbents traditionally used in desulfurization. In comparison to the use of lime agents, the replacement reduces SO2 emissions by more than 6,600 mt and CO2 by more than 4,600 mt, equivalent to savings of RMB 3 million and 8,000 mt of lime desulfurization agents.
