Swedish basic metal output down 2.3 percent in Oct from Sept

In Sweden, seasonally adjusted industrial production increased by 0.5 percent in October this year compared to September, and was down 4.4 percent year on year in working day-adjusted figures, according to Statistics Sweden (SCB).

In October this year, Swedish basic metal output decreased by 2.3 percent month on month and was down 14.4 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. In the month in question, the country's manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment output, fell by 5.2 percent compared to the previous month, down 11 percent on year-on-year basis.

On the other hand, in October this year new orders for basic metals in Sweden decreased 2.9 percent compared to the previous month of the year, while new basic metal orders fell by 13.6 percent from the October 2011 level, mainly driven by the 14.4 percent decrease in export orders. Meanwhile, new orders for the Swedish fabricated metal products industry, except machinery and equipment, decreased by 4.1 percent compared to the previous month and were down 8.2 percent year on year.
