SunCoke Energy reports lower net income in Q4 2016

SunCoke Energy, Inc. today reported fourth quarter 2016 net income of $17.0 million, down from a net income of $19.0 million in the prior year period. Full-year 2016 net income was $14.4 million, versus a loss of $22.0 million for the full-year 2015.
 
Fourth quarter segment results for domestic coke operations (consisting of cokemaking facilities and heat recovery operations at SunCoke’s Jewell, Indiana Harbor, Haverhill, Granite City and Middletown plants) included sales totaling $261.2 million, down 41.3 percent from Q4 2015. Sales volume for Q4 totaled 964,000 tons, down 49 percent from the same quarter of the previous year.
 
As for SunCoke’s 2017 guidance, the company expected domestic coke production to reach approximately 3.9 million tons.
