Strike in Mexican mines and steel mills called off

Mexico's National Union of Mine and Metalworkers has called off all strike actions at Mexico's silver and iron ore mines as well as the strike at the Ahmsa steel mill. Further strikes anticipated for this week were shelved as well. This put an end to this somewhat bizarre and illegal strike action that was started last week, ostensibly over the recent coal mine tragedy in Mexico, but also because of a split in the union which occurred when their former leader, Napoleon Gomez Urrutia, was replaced against his will.
