In September this year, South Korea's total car output surged by 10.3 percent year on year, totaling 374,034 units, according to a report released by the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association (KAMA). The report says that the increase was due to the steady growth of sales in and out of the country. This was the highest monthly production level achieved in 2011. Meanwhile, in the first nine months of 2011, South Korea's car production rose 9.4 percent year on year to 3,388,833 units.
South Korean domestic sales in September this year grew by 3.8 percent year on year, totaling 125,043 units, while in the first nine months of 2011 domestic sales climbed 4.2 percent year on year, amounting to 1,106,779 vehicles.
South Korean car exports in September went up by 14 percent year on year to 249,342 units. In the January-September period this year, exports surged by 13.7 percent year on year, reaching 2,272,437 units.
