SMS Logistiksysteme launches coil logistics system at Asia Alum’s rolling facility

Germany-based logistics and service solutions provider SMS Logistiksysteme, a unit of the German plantmaker SMS Siemag, has launched its new fully automated logistics system for hot and cold rolled aluminum coils at the rolling plant of Guangdong Province, China-based Asia Alum.

SMS Logistiksysteme provided coil transport cars for the transportation of coils to the inspection line and a strapping machine integrated to the transport line. The coil logistics system is made up of a two aisle-high bay store that can hold 1,972 aluminum coils weighing up to 21.5 mt in total. The company also provided three staking cranes for handling.
