Brazilian iron ore producer Ferrous Resources has reduced its iron ore capacity, according to a media report, dropping from 5 million mt per year to 3.8 million mt per year.

According to the company, the measure was taken as a way to avoid more operational losses. Recently, a source told SteelOrbis that low iron ore prices are hurting minor producers, which have to compete with giant companies like Vale and Rio Tinto.
