Austria-based plantmaker Siemens Metals Technologies has announced that it has completed the modernization of two long steel rolling mills belonging to the German steelmaker BGH Edelstahlwerke GmbH.

The plantmaker has upgraded the wire rod mill of BGH Edelstahl Freital GmbH in Freital, Germany as well as the flat bar line of BGH Polska Sp.z o.o in Katowice, Poland. The modernization works lasted 12 months.

BGH Edelstahlwerke GmbH runs an electric arc furnace-based mini-mill meltshop in Freital, in which liquid steel can be cast either as blocks or billets. These are then further processed in a blooming mill and a wire rod line.
