Austria-based plantmaker Siemens has announced that it will modernize the hot rolling mill of
Luxembourg-headquartered global
stainless steel producer Aperam in Châtelet,
Belgium, in order to reduce costs and improve profitability within the scope of comprehensive modernization plans.
The modernization will take place in seven stages during scheduled annual maintenance stoppages. It is expected begin in mid-2013 and to be completed by the end of 2019.
Aperam has six production sites in
Europe and Brazil with an annual capacity of 2.5 million mt of flat
stainless steel products for a wide range of applications. Its main European
stainless steel plants are located in Châtelet and Genk,
Belgium, and Gueugnon and Isbergues, France.
