Hebei Province-based Chinese steel producer Shougang Jingtang Iron and Steel Co., Ltd (Shougang Jingtang) has announced steady progress in its construction project for a new cutting and processing center for steel strip products. The company aims to satisfy the increasing demand for hot rolled steel strip in the market with its new facility.
The project includes construction of two hot rolling transverse cutting machines, a hot rolling pickling line and a bell-typed annealing furnace. The annual production capacities of the hot rolling transverse cutting machines are respectively 400,000 mt and 300,000 mt, and they mainly process 8-25.4 mm thick and 830-2,130 mm wide steel strips with a maximum yield strength of 850 MPa, at a cutting speed of 40 m/hour. The finished products will be in lengths of 2-6 m. The 300,000 mt annual capacity hot rolling transverse cutting machine is expected to be put into production in July this year, with the other cutting machine expected to come on stream in November.
In addition, the pickling line and the bell-typed annealing furnace are expected to be commissioned in September 2011 and March 2012 respectively.
