Shougang Jingtang completes commissioning of coking project phase 1

Having previously put its coke ovens A, B, C into operation, Caofeidian, Hebei Province-based Chinese steelmaker Shougang Jingtang Steel lately commenced coke production at its coke oven D, thereby marking the full commissioning of its coking project phase 1.

The steelmaker's coking project phase 1 included the construction of four 7.63 m-high large-scale coking ovens, with a supporting gas clean-up system and a coke dry quenching system. The coke oven technology was supplied by German company Uhde, with additional coke oven machinery provided by German-based Schalker. The construction of coke oven D started on April 15 last year, was completed on August 31, with oven ignition taking place on November 28, 2009.
