Shougang inks cooperation memorandum with BMW Brilliance Automotive

Beijing-based Chinese steelmaker Shougang Co., Ltd has announced that it has inked a memorandum of cooperation on building a green, low-carbon steel and iron supply chain with BMW Brilliance Automotive on July 26.

Accordingly, both parties intend to cooperate on supplying low-carbon-emission steel materials, and intend to carry out the cooperation on application of automotive body materials based on the current blast furnace and converter process and cooperation on low-carbon-emission products based on the electric furnace process. The two sides aim to achieve the carbon dioxide emission peak by 2030 and to be carbon neutral by 2060.
