Shaogang to build 1.3 million mt steel plant in Hubei Province

Qie Yingcai, mayor of Xiangyang city in China’s Hubei Province, has stated that he recently led a team of officials to the Guangdong Province to visit companies including Guangdong-based Shaoguan Iron and Steel Co. (Shaogang) and to invite investments.

Shaogang has an annual steel capacity of 6.6 million mt and is a major production base in Guangdong. During the visit, the Xiangyang city and Shaogang officials reached a consensus on building a 1.3 million mt green intelligent steel plant which will use scrap as its main raw material, a 50,000 mt casting and forging industrial park, and a 1.5 million mt mineral recycling industrial park in Xiangyang city. Mayor Qie said relevant departments in the city will seek to accelerate the implementation of the projects in question.
