Shanxi Province achieves 2010 targets for elimination of backward capacities

According to a statement issued by the authorities in the Chinese province of Shanxi on December 27, the 2010 targets for the elimination of backward production capacities in Shanxi have been exceeded. Shanxi Province has dismantled all targeted backward production capacities in the current year, including such capacities in the iron and steel sector.

According to China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the targets for the elimination of backward production capacities in the whole country in the current year have been achieved, covering a total of 18 industrial sectors, including steel, coke and cement, and affecting a total of 2,087 domestic enterprises.
