On Wednesday, Dearborn, Michigan-based flat rolled steelmaker Severstal North America announced that the facility's Pickle Line Tandem Cold Mill (PLTCM) reached a milestone by producing 1,000,000 tons since its start-up last August.

Severstal said in a press release that the PLTCM is the first continuous cold mill in the US, according to currently available data, to produce 1,000,000 tons within the first year of operation, precisely in 10 months and 27 days.

The five-stand, six-high, 72" wide PLTCM produces steel for exposed automotive applications.
