Severstal North America, a division of the Russian steel producer Severstal, has recently announced that SRI Quality System Registrar has awarded an ISO/TS 16949:2009 and an ISO 9001:2008 management system certificate to Severstal Columbus for the manufacture and supply of steel coils.

"This certification shows their automotive customers worldwide that Severstal Columbus is committed to being recognized as a long-term supplier of quality goods and services," SRI president and COO Christopher H. Lake stated.

ISO/TS 16949:2009 is an international ‘sector-specific' technical specification with particular requirements for the application of ISO 9001:2008 for automotive production and relevant service part organizations.

"Sales to the automotive industry are a critical component of the Columbus strategic plan. Our certified quality system will help in efforts to continuously improve our business," Severstal Columbus vice president and general manager Jim Hrusovsky commented.
