Serbia's only steelmaker, Zelezara Smederevo, formerly US Steel Serbia, has announced that on Monday, July 7, it restarted its blast furnace No. 2 at the Smederevo steelworks after a two-month suspension.
In the next two or three days, the first ton of liquid iron will be transported to the steel plant where the continuously cast slabs will be moved to the hot rolling process.
As SteelOrbis previously reported, the blast furnace No. 1 of Zelezara Smederevo became operational in April this year, marking the resumption of the company's production after an interval of nine months.
