Scrap supplies to Ukrainian steel mills in Jan 2007

According to preliminary data for January, Ilyich received just 43,300 metric tons of scrap of the 60,000 metric tons initially projected, thus filling only 72.2 percent of the plant's scrap requirements. Supplies of scrap to Zaporizhstal in January 2007 were by 29.5 percent less than the plant's projected monthly needs of 80,000 metric tons, totaling 67,600 metric tons. Enakievsk MZ during the same period received 45,900 metric tons of scrap - showing a 19.5 percent shortage compared to its expected requirements. Mittal Steel Kriviy Rih obtained 24,100 metric tons of scrap during the first month of 2007 -74 percent less than its planned consumption of 93,000 metric tons. Alchevsk received 49 percent less scrap than its planned consumption of 63,000 metric tons. The January supplies of scrap to the mill totaled 37,200 metric tons. Istil received 53,400 metric tons of scrap in January 2007, below its projected requirements of 99,000 metric tons by 46.1 percent.
