Sales continue to rise for US automakers in October

Car sales at Michigan's big three US automakers continued to increase in October. Chrysler Group outpaced its rivals selling 114,512 units in October, up 27 percent from October 2010 and the best October for the automaker since 2007. Retail sales were also up 40 percent over last year. Unit sales were down from September sales of 127,334.

General Motors Company sold 186,895 units in October, reflecting a 2 percent increase from October 2010, but down from 207,145 units sold in September.

Ford Motor Company reported that sales increased 6 percent from last year to 167,803 vehicles, and rose 11 percent year-to-date. October sales for Ford also fell from September sales of 175,199 units.
