SAIL’s Bhilai chosen as best performing steel plant in India

On February 15 in New Delhi, Indian steelmaker Steel Authority of India Ltd's (SAIL) Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) received the Indian prime ministry's trophy for emerging as the best performing steel plant in the country for the years 2006-07 and 2007-08.

According to a SAIL press release, Indian PM Dr. Manmohan Singh handed over the ‘Trophy for Best Integrated Steel Plant' in the country to SAIL chairman S.K. Roongta and BSP managing director R. Ramaraju in the presence of other ministers.

BSP has now been honored with the trophy in question a total of nine out of 16 times since the award was first instituted.
