Leading North American metals distributor and processor Ryerson Steel rejected a settlement offer Thursday that would have ended the three day strike against the company. The offer would have required the company to admit they have committed unfair business practices the 500 striking steelworkers accuse the company of, namely, illegal surveillance. United Steelworkers Locals 9777 and 6787 and Teamsters Local 714 went on strike this past Sunday as a response to the company's alleged unfair business practices. The striking workers make up a little over one tenth of Ryerson's total workforce. Negotiations sessions have been scheduled for Thursday and Friday.
