Russian pig iron producer Kosaya Gora Iron Works has announced that it is continuing its pig iron production and maintaining its shipments both to the domestic and export markets, despite the unfavorable market conditions caused by falling prices for pig iron and high raw material costs. The announcement was made following media reports stating that the plant plans to halt its pig iron operations over the summer.
In May this year, Kosaya Gora Iron Works produced 38,806 mt of cast and pig iron at its blast furnace No. 1 and 5,812 mt of ferromanganese at its blast furnace No. 2.
According to its plans, in June the company aims to produce 37,000 mt of cast and pig iron, including 22,000 mt for the domestic market and 15,000 mt for export. In addition, the plant also aims to produce 5,500 mt of ferromanganese in the month in question.
