Russia’s government to consider VAT reduction

The Russian Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MEDT) has submitted a proposal to the country's government to reduce the amount of value added tax (VAT) to 12 percent from the current 18 percent.

Such a reduction in VAT collection could have a positive affect on the domestic steel market by easing the burden on market players, and could lead to a decrease in current steel prices.
