According to the data issued by Russian Railways (RZhD), in January-September 2009, the steel products shipments on Russia's railways decreased by 27.4 percent to 47 million mt, the shipments of iron and manganese ore went down by 16 percent to 70.3 million mt, while the shipments of ferrous scrap dropped by 47.4 percent to 11.5 million mt, all compared to the same period last year.
During the first nine months of 2009, Russia's total railway shipments decreased by 19.5 percent year on year to 816.7 million mt.
