Russian coal output declines by 1.8 percent in January-April

In January-April this year, Russia produced 106.9 million mt of coal, down 1.8 percent compared to the same period last year.

In particular, for the given period, Russia's production of black coal increased by 0.5 percent to 75 million mt, but its coal concentrate output decreased by 0.9 percent to 26.9 million mt.

During the period in question, iron ore concentrate production in Russia rose by 8.3 percent to 33.1 million mt, while its iron ore pellet output increased by 5.7 percent to 12.8 million mt - both on year-on-year basis.

In 2010, Russia's coal production increased by 5.4 percent year on year to 317 million mt.
