According to the data released by the Russian Federation's Federal State Statistics Service, in January-February 2011
Russia produced 9.6 million metric tons of finished steel products - up 9.8 percent, 1.7 million metric tons of steel pipes - up 25.6 percent, and 7.9 million metric tons of
pig iron - up 2.3 percent, all compared to January-February 2010.
In addition, in January-February 2011, the country registered a two percent drop in its coal
mining output, but a 5.8 percent rise in its
iron ore concentrate output year on year. The respective figures in metric tons were 53 million and 15.8 million.
Russia's output of metallurgical coke in the first two months of this year went up by 0.5 percent year on year to 4.4 million metric tons.
Overall, the increase in industrial
production in
Russia in January-February 2011 amounted to 6.3 percent compared to January-February 2010.
