Russia issues Jan-September 2008 output results

According to the data released by the Russian Federation's Federal State Statistics Service, in the first nine months of 2008 the country registered a 6.9 percent rise in coal mining output and a 3.1 percent rise in iron ore mining output year on year. The respective figures in metric tons were 241 million and 80.8 million.

In addition, during the same period Russia produced 26.3 million metric tons of coke - up 3.2 percent, 46.8 million metric tons of finished steel products - up 5.4 percent, and 6.3 million metric tons of steel pipes - down six percent, all compared to January-September 2007.
