The government of the Russian Federation has imposed a five percent duty on imports of a further two types of cold rolled coil (CRC). The decision No. 986 dated December 3, 2009 becomes effective one month after its official publication, i.e., it takes effect on January 8, 2010.

The five percent import duty will now also impact CRC under HS Codes 7209 17 900 1 and 7209 27 900 1, in addition to HS codes 7209 17 900 9 and 7207 27 900 9 which were already subject to five percent duty.

As SteelOrbis previously reported, by its decision No. 962 dated December 19, 2008, Russia imposed a zero to five percent duty on imports of CRC for a period of nine months. Thus, CRC under 7209 17 900 1 and 7209 27 900 1 HS Codes was subject to zero percent import duty, while the five percent duty was effective for CRC under 7209 17 900 9 and 7209 27 900 9 HS Codes.
